Why Should You Buy A Used Car From A Dealer

Why Should You Buy A Used Car From A Dealer?

The car market has been full of ups and downs in recent months not to mention the tough economic times we are all facing. But despite this, everyone at some point will need to buy a car to replace their current one.

Used Car Dealers Vs. Classifieds

Buying a used car from a classified site has some pros and cons. On the surface it meets your budget but there will be uncertainty about the quality of what’s under the hood. Even if you've had good experiences in the past, it's hard to know for sure what you're getting. When you buy from a used car dealer, they have to be licensed by their state and typically vehicles will have been through a mechanical inspection of some sort.

1.  Condition – It's in their best interest to purchase cars that are in good condition to sell to you.

2.  History Reports  – When you buy from a dealer, they can tell you about the car's history. If it was involved in an accident, or how many owners it's had. This will give you some idea of what to expect down the road.

3.  Financing – Coming up with hard cash can be a challenge for anyone these days, and paying someone you just met online gives you little recourse. Most states have lemon laws giving you options from a dealer you wouldn't otherwise have.

4.  Paperwork – Oftentimes, people don't realize that when they purchase a used car from classified ads, they still have to go with the seller to transfer the title. You will also have to arrange your own financing. Most people barely have the time to shop for a car much less deal with all the paperwork that's required.

3 Key Things To Know Before You Buy A Car

What Is A Good Deal On A Car

Everyone wants to get the best deal on a car they can, It's human nature and makes financial sense. However, getting that deal isn't always up to the car dealership. Your budget, credit score and trade-in value all play significant factors in what you actually pay for your car.

Know Your Budget

Most people think a budget is what you can afford monthly, but it also determines what cars and the features will have. A car that you like may have several trim levels with different features, but they will come at a higher price. So know your budget and research cars and trim levels that fit in it.

Know Your Must Haves

If you've done your research then you probably have an idea of what you're looking for. But It's important to know your must-haves in a vehicle. For some people, it might be four-wheel drive or a sunroof, but for others, it might be heated seats and remote start.

Know Your Can Do With Outs

After you know your must haves, you can start looking at what you can do without. It all ties back into your budget and what you're willing to spend. If you're not worried about having the latest and greatest features, then you can probably get by with a base model vehicle.

With your budget, must have, and do with outs in mind, head to a dealership and have a conversation with the salesperson. They will be able to guide you to a vehicle that fits your needs best. You will then have a better understanding of what a good deal on a car looks like.

Can You Buy A Brand New Tesla For A Dollar

If It Looks To Good To Be True It Probably Is

When you read that headline, I bet you were more than just skeptical. In fact you already knew it couldn't possibly be true. So how could someone possibly be selling brand new Tesla's for just a dollar? The answer is they aren't but that's not the point. The headline got your attention.

While our exercise in skepticism was easy to spot, unfortunately that's not always the case. Online scammers have for years tried to take advantage of people, but with the surge in used car values, they are working overtime. With so many people out of work and struggling to make ends meet, scammers know that now is the time to strike.

One of their tried and true methods they like to use is posting to online classified sites. They post incredible sounding deals on cars with the hope some unsuspecting victim will take the bait. They even go to legitimate used car dealers website's to steal the cars' information and images. All of this is to try and lure you in so they can get your money. So how can you spot these scams?

Here are a few things to look out for:

  1. The price is too good to be true - This should be obvious but unfortunately it's not always.

  1. They refuse to meet in person - A common tactic of scammers is to insist on communicating only through email or text. They will give all kinds of excuses as to why they can't meet in person but the truth is they don't want to get caught.

  1. They ask for payment upfront - This is a huge red flag. No legitimate seller is going to ask for payment before you even see the product.

Can You Rebuild Your Credit With A Used Car Loan

Used Car Loans - A Credit Tool You May Not Have Known About

Sometimes through no fault of your own, you may have bad credit. The economy, a job loss, medical bills, or other factors could have contributed to your current financial situation. But just because you have bad credit now doesn't mean that it will always be this way.

You can take steps to improve your credit score almost immediately by making all your household bills and payments on time and in full. Another option to help improve your credit score is to get a used car loan. A used car loan can help rebuild your credit in several ways.

First, when you make timely monthly payments on your loan, it will reflect positively on your credit report. This will help to gradually improve your credit score over time.

In addition, the act of getting a loan and making payments on time can show creditors that you are responsible and capable of handling debt. This can make it easier for you to get approved for other types of loans in the future, such as a mortgage.

Of course, not all used car loans are the same. To maximize the positive impact on your credit score, you'll want to get a loan with reasonable terms. This means getting a loan with a manageable monthly payment that you can comfortably make without straining your budget.

You may also want to consider a cosigner for your loan. A cosigner is someone who agrees to be responsible for the loan payments if you default on the loan. Having a cosigner can help you get approved for a loan with more favorable terms, which can in turn have a positive impact on your credit score.

Although a used car loan can be a great way to rebuild your credit, it's important to remember that there is no quick fix when it comes to credit scores. It takes time and effort to improve your credit score, but the rewards can be well worth it in the end.

Used car loans can help rebuild your credit, but there are also some risks to consider. Your interest rate will likely be higher than someone with good credit. This is because you're considered a higher risk borrower.

You may have to put down a larger down payment than someone with good credit. This is because the lender wants to minimize their risk in case you default on the loan.

If you default on the loan, the lender can repossess the car. This will damage your credit even further. You should only take out a used car loan if you're confident you can make the payments on time. Otherwise, you could end up doing more harm than good to your credit score

The New Age Not-So-Sedan

Welcome to Maryville Auto Sales' very first blog! Today's discussion revolves around the "New-Age Sedan". You may be wondering, "isn't the new age sedan, a sedan? Or maybe just a newer, more modern 4 door car?" To which I would say yes, but not entirely. If you think of the sedan as a 4 door car that you and your siblings grew up in you're probably right. But what a sedan offered in size and comfort, is now being "one-upped" buy the SUV and 4-door truck. Shoppers are finding that an SUV like the Honda CR-V or the Toyota Rav4 are better alternatives to the average sedan and offer more value. SUV's aren't the only body type out-pacing sedans; Crew Cab Trucks have more space than ever and are not only more spacious but are more versatile as well. In comparison, The SUV offers more ground clearance, more truck space, and more room for passengers. The 4-Door Truck also offers more to the consumer by its natural versatility. Take for instance our 2013 Toyota Tundra SR5 CREWMAX. This Two-Row truck seats three up-front and three in the back. Not only is there a sizable amount of space in this CrewMax Tundra, but the Rear Seats also RECLINE! It doesn't end there. Lets say for instance you and the wife are headed to home depot for a DIY weekend project. You have the car seats in the back a bed full of materials and you can pull a trailer if you need to, with ease. OH, and don't forget about how handy 4x4 is during the snowy winter months! If my example didn't paint the clearest picture, I'll clear things up. The SUV and Crew Cab Trucks are replacing sedans at a rapid rate because of the incredible value they offer. SUVs and Trucks are more safe and more comfortable than your idea of a Toyota Camry family car.

Check out our selection of SUVs and Truck under the "INVENTORY" tab at the top of our website! I hope you enjoyed today Blog post. It pays to choose Maryville Auto Sales!
